Need-Based Scholarships

All applicants are encouraged to explore the wide range of scholarships and funding opportunities offered through the Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University, which operates Alliance programs. IFSA-Butler believes that study abroad should be within the reach of every student. We offer Alliance students need-based scholarships for semester and summer programs in China, India, and Israel.

To be eligible for a need-based scholarship, you must have applied for financial aid through your home school. Awards start at $1,500 for semester programs and $500 for summer programs and may be used for any Alliance program.

All Alliance program applicants are welcome to apply for a scholarship by submitting their completed Scholarship Application forms via the Alliance application portal. Applicants must also email a copy of their most recent financial aid award letter (from their home university’s financial aid office) to Becki Niccum.  You can also email Becki with any questions regarding scholarships.

In order to apply for a need-based scholarship, you must first begin an application to the Alliance program of your choice via the appropriate online portal. The scholarship application contains two pieces: your Scholarship Essay submitted via our online application system, and the Scholarship Financial Release Form to be completed by the Financial Aid Administrator on your home campus.

You may only apply once for this scholarship per term abroad. Students who apply by the priority deadline but are not awarded will automatically be considered again after the final deadline has passed.
