Faculty

Faculty appointments for individual courses are still being finalized, and will be posted as they are confirmed.

Faculty will be drawn primarily from the University of Pune, as well as Bharati Vidyapeeth University, the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Fergusson College, and several of the prominent think tanks, research institutes, and NGOs for which Pune is known.

In addition to drawing upon the best of Pune's scholarly community to serve as instructors for our courses, the Alliance has formed a Pune Academic Council that brings together many of Pune's most prominent intellectuals tguide and advise the academic portion of the program. Current members are:

• Dr. Ram Bapat - Former Chair and Professor Emeritus, Department of Political Science, University of Pune.
• Dr. Shrikant Paranjape - Chair, Department of Defense Studies and International Relations, University of Pune.
• Dr. Gayatri Chatterjee - Professor at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and film director.
• Dr. Raja Dixit - Professor of History and Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Pune.
• Dr. Robin Tribhuvan - Widely-published medical anthropologist and specialist in tribal issues. Has conducted research for the WHO, UNESCO, and UNICEF, and currently works with the Tribal Research and Training Institute of Maharashtra.
• Dr. Pradeep Apte - Professor of Economics at Fergusson College and visiting faculty on Development Economics, Management, and Business at several institutions in and around Pune. Member of Maharashtra Government's Planning Committee.
• Dr. Mukund Ghare - Hydro-geologist and paleontologist, has worked with the World Bank and is considered an authority in the NGsector on rural development and water issues.
• Mr. Girish Sohoni - Executive Vice President of Bharatiya AgrIndustries Foundation (BAIF), one of Pune's largest and most respected NGOs, founded by one of Mahatma Gandhi's inner circle.
